This study explored how the girls saw their own gender and reacted to males being brought into the all-female space. The results of the study suggest that students are aware of not only their gender but know how to interact with people who do not share the same gender identity as them. They recognize a binary between girls and boys but also recognize that not all girls and boys are the same, looking beyond just the texts to understand how gender worked in their everyday lives.
